Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam

The collaboration launched last season between the two fashion events is being resumed this winter season. Together, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam and Modefabriek form a complete Dutch fashion platform, with the organisations working towards putting Amsterdam on the map as an international creative capital.

Developing a structured coordination of data as well as a shared programme has strengthened the immediacy of the week of fashion in Amsterdam. The collaboration is a win-win for all involved parties, from young designers to successful international labels, from retailers to business services and from the press to the entire Dutch creative industry. Here is an overview of what to expect:

For the press, the shared programme starts at 12:00 on 27 January at Modefabriek with a press conference with a special guest (to be announced) and a speaker on the future of retail. The press programme will be followed by Keys to Success at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which is a networking event with the theme ‘Sustainability and new business models’, and including presentations from leading fashion professionals and the business world, a walking dinner and drinks, and Dennis Diem’s catwalk show. Both organisations see sharing knowledge on sustainability in fashion as an important ‘key to success’.

For businesses, the shared programme offers a number of networking opportunities such as EU FashionMatch, an international business matchmaking initiative by Enterprise Europe Network. On the website, participants can select profiles of interesting business contacts with which they can book a 20-minute meeting at Modefabriek. Anyone can sign up and register for a match profile, up until the 20th of January, free of charge. Participants will also receive free admission to Modefabriek and can participate in Keys to Success at a special discount. Modefabriek exhibitors can also become a member of the Fashion Week the Netherlands business community at a major discount (€795.00 instead of the usual €995.00 per year). The Fashion in Business Network is an exclusive club of passionate fashion entrepreneurs, and was founded during Keys to Success in January of 2013. Members of this Fashion in Business Network meet up to 12 times a year during inspiring events, with highlights in fashion and other creative industries, including Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

First of August

Visitors and attendees of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam and Modefabriek will of course enjoy the benefits of the collaboration. For example, one of Modefabriek’s platforms NEXT for international up-and-coming designer labels has been included as one of the ’10 Days of Downtown’ happenings during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam. 8 selected labels, including Vonschwanenflügelpupke from Berlin, Korean designer Rick Lee from Milan, Odeur from Stockholm and First of August, Melissa Siegrist and PCL by Peter Leferink from Amsterdam, are offering a preview on Saturday 25 January, from 2:30 to 6:00pm in Westerliefde (the main venue for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam). Free of charge for invitees to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam and Modefabriek. Admission for the public: €5.00.
