Ready to fish

Our own talent will be duly represented by a selection of nine successful designer labels called ‘Nederlands Trots’ (Pride of the Netherlands), a follow-up to the long-standing collaboration between Modefabriek and the Dutch Fashion Foundation. Ready to Fish, the ready-to-wear women’s line by the Ilja Visser Group, Marscha Hüskes’ lovely minimalist dresses and second line SIS by internationally successful women’s label Spijkers en Spijkers – the twins Truus and Riet Spijkers from Arnhem – have been showcased at Modefabriek before. YOUASME MEASYOU, the crowd-funded luxury knitwear and jersey label by designer Mark van Vorstenbos and artist Twan Janssen, has also created an internationally expanding fan base thanks to the duo’s innovative sales initiatives. Delikatessen, a high-end menswear label by Andrzej Lisowski and Stephen Hartog, stands out through their simple but elegant fits and exclusive materials from all four corners of the earth. Andrzej is also a talented chef – in brief, he’s an all-round connoisseur. Italian designer Domenico Cioffi is a national talent. His women’s label was launched at the 2012 Amsterdam Fashion Week, in which Mediterranean refinement meets North-European minimalism. They chose Amsterdam as a base, as did Melanie Brown with her fierce-chique ‘slow fashion’ women’s label. Other labels in the Nederlands Trots presentation include the young Dutch-German women’s label Warmerhoven Venderbos and contemporary traditional workwear-inspired bag label Atelier de l’Armée.
