FACES BEHIND RETAIL FUTURE HOME // ITO
This summer edition of Retail Future Home at Modefabriek, STUDIO by judith ter haar invites inspiring designers, professionals and makers from a range of fields to come together and celebrate new visions on the life cycle of retail and products. We proudly introduce the faces behind Retail Future Home.
ITO is a natural indigo dye studio based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Founded by Anne Noordegraaf and Daan Gast in 2012, they produce a range of textiles that utilize natural indigo dyes and explore traditional techniques like Japanese shibori, sashiko and resist methods, to create beautiful fabrics for daily use. By applying an ancient dip dye method re-invented by the French dye-master Michel Garcia, using organic & recycled cotton and linen, and collecting rainwater to rinse fabrics, they aim to make their work process pure and organic.
For two days ITO will host an open studio during Retail Future Home at Modefabriek, where they will showcase the dyeing process from start to finish. Visitors are invited to take part in the dip dyeing process to taste the wonderful world of indigo!
