With the aim to create a new generation of denim designers and –developers, the Jean School officially started this week. The Jean School, a collaboration between jeansplatform House of Denim and the regional education centre ROC of Amsterdam (ROCvA), teaches students all the ins and outs of the business. In three years time they may call themselves denim developers. James Veenhoff, founder of the House of Denim jeansplatform already launched this great initiative at Modefabriek last year.

The students will attend lectures by people in the industry such as Alex Jaspers (Scotch & Soda, Amsterdams Blauw), Menno van Meurs (Tenue de Nîmes) and Wouter Munnichs (founder of the blog Long John). All three of them hope to employ the students within three years at in their companies.

With the arrival of the Jean School, Amsterdam is well on track to become ‘Jean Capital of the World’, even the NY Times dedicated an article to it a few weeks ago.
