DO IT YOUR WAY – MASTERMIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS (SORRY UITVERKOCHT!)
Nederlands gesproken masterclass

Joline Jolink (Fashion Designer) and Jos Konickx (Informal Investor) have been a team for 10 years. What makes their collaboration so inspiring and their fashion business so unique? A Master Class about making unconventional choices and seeing your business in a fresh new light.

Joline Jolink started her namesake fashion label in Amsterdam in 2006 and in ‘crisis year’ 2008 she was the very first Dutch designer to launch an online store. She opened an instantly successful brand store, then moved it to Rotterdam. She did everything against the grain; ditched fashion shows, dropped wholesale and seasonal collections, and she doesn’t do sale.

Business investor Jos Konickx will be joining Joline Jolink for this Master Class, and he will point out what triggered him to team up with her, and how their entrepreneurial experiments unfolded into this remarkable success story.

TECHNOLOGY IN FASHION – INNOVATION IS THE AMBITION (SORRY, UITVERKOCHT!)
Engels gesproken masterclass

Pauline van Dongen (designer & researcher) and Anne Marie Commandeur (Stijlinstituut) share their experienced views on wearable technology: its relation to the body, its relation to fashion, and what to expect in the (near) future.

Pauline van Dongen

Wearable technology has long been a futuristic idea or a gimmick at best. But wearable technology is here to stay and its development is just about to boom. Imagine the possibilities for health and wellbeing, for safety and self-sufficiency, for performance and… style.

Since her Master graduation from ArtEZ in 2010, Dutch fashion designer Pauline van Dongen has been exploring the integration of technology such as solar cells, LED light and digital design and hardware into her fashion designs. For this Master Class she joins forces with trend analyst Anne Marie Commandeur, owner and director of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, who, as a passionate lecturer at various academies, and advisor for the fibre and textile industry, is all about innovation and the things to come.

HOW TO… BECOME A BREAK AWAY SUCCESS IN FASHION (SORRY, DEZE IS OOK UITVERKOCHT!)
Nederlands gesproken masterclass

Marian Wigger (Zenggi) and Hussein Suleiman (Daily Paper) share the true story of their remarkable international successes in fashion retail. Planning to start your own? Take advantage of their experience; the choices they made, the tipping points and the pitfalls they encountered.

In 2003 Marian Wigger received the Grand Seigneur, which is the most prestigious recognition for professional achievement in fashion in The Netherlands. She earned her stripes with Turnover, of which she was a partner, and in 2006 she pioneered with her online retail concept Zenggi, which she then turned into her own brand, next to her most recent concept TRVL DRSS.

Somali born Hussein Suleiman is the young gun who never studied fashion, and yet managed to turn his lifestyle blog Daily Paper into a remarkably successful fashion business. From the very first Massaï shield logo t-shirts he made with his friends, to the trade mark African themed streetwear collections they put out today, his story is as much one of camaraderie as of down to earth ‘Amsterdam’ business sense and perseverance.
