For those who paid attention, eyewear designer Ralph Vaessen was already spotted at Modefabriek last July. Vaessen, who is internationally renowned for his eccentric handmade horn (sun) glasses, designed for Van Gils eyewear a very contemporary collection. Van Gils showed this collection at Modefabriek in July. The style fits with the clothing collection of Van Gils. The eyewear designer gives the collection a distinctive signature; the materials used for the collection are acetate, titanium and horn. The colors range from metal for the titanium spectacle frames to earth colors such as reddish brown; brown and sand colors for the acetate and horn spectacles. The contemporary and distinctive masculine shapes, silhouettes and the strong sense of craftsmanship and perfection are some of the reasons why the partnership between Ralph Vaessen and Van Gils is so natural. According to Ralph Vaessen this collection is for men with “great, but slightly different taste of style”.
