The TOMS Story

 

In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One™.

Get It Done

 

Actress Hanna Verboom grew up in Africa, up until she was 12.  In 2006, her African childhood foster-mother and her husband both died of AIDS.  Their seven-year-old daughter Cheruto was diagnosed with AIDS as well.  Moved by this terrible news, Hanna decided to raise money for Cheruto’s medical treatment. Within a few weeks she got it done. Enough money was collected to cover for a lifetime of medication, food and education.  It seems that with direct involvement and direct action, direct result can be achieved.  You can get it done. From this insight a vision on development cooperation evolved and together with a group of passionate like-minded people, Hanna established an organization that truly believe that together we can get it done.

About the Project

TOMS is excited to announce their collaboration with GET IT DONE, an online global community that brings the personal connection back into aid.  Together TOMS and GET IT DONE will be auctioning off customized one-of-a-kind shoes, of which the proceeds will benefit education projects like GET SAFETY FENCE FOR SCHOOL DONE in Ethiopia. TOMS is a company that matches every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One™.  TOMS supports local like-minded charities and cause related programs to help children in need.

AUCTIONS

The Netherlands’ most famous shoe designer Jan Jansen, actrice and GET IT DONE founder Hanna Verboom and several artists have designed shoes for the online auction by American TOMS shoes and non-profit foundation GET IT DONE. Visitors of Modefabriek had the scoop on the January 22nd, as most TOMS shoes were designed live at the tradeshow. TOMS shoes will donate all proceeds to charity overseen by GET IT DONE. The auction is in effect until January 29th.
