Give your fashion senses a boost with the Trend Talks at Modefabriek – including the session by our long-time trendwatcher Jan Agelink, who will offer a forward-looking take on the key trends for Spring-Summer 2026, such as Newstalgia, a completely fresh feel for vintage.
Jan Agelink is one of our go-to trendwatchers in the fields of fashion and design. He never misses Milan Design Week and keeps a close eye on trendsetting fashion brands and retailers. Some of his favourite events are even closer to home: “With Dutch Design Week and the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands houses one of the most exciting design hubs in the world.” Other key events on his radar include Paris Design Week – highly product-driven – and Three Days of Design in Copenhagen, which offers a more underground vibe. Jan has a special interest in Dutch fashion designers, as they often stand out for their originality and innovative spirit. Think Camiel Fortgens, Joline Jolink, and Duran Lantink. He filters the continuous flow of design news through the disciplined lens of his agency Buro Jantrendman, translating it into clear and truly inspiring trend presentations. Jan creates these not only for Modefabriek, but also for interior brands as Zuiver and &klevering, and department stores such as de Bijenkorf. What will tomorrow’s consumers want – and how will they want it? That’s the question Jan passionately explores at Modefabriek, season after season.
‘Newstalgia’ for Spring-Summer 2026
One of the most important trends Jan has picked up on for next summer is a whole new kind of nostalgia. “We’re about to tell fresh stories using the archive of all those treasured things from the past.” Jan’s thought-provoking examples from major influential brands as Miu Miu, stage design visionary Es Devlin, and many exciting up-and-coming talents, show how reality and fiction are merging – and how we long for the freedom to remix elements from the past into fashion and design for the future. The concept of the archive has already been a major theme in fashion for some time – think of the highly curated archive wear – but now we’re moving a big step further. We’re letting go of heritage purism and diving into an Alice in Wonderland-style time warp, leading to bold, surprising new interpretations of everything familiar. This evolution goes beyond products – it also changes how we present and experience them. What does that look like exactly? Jan Agelink will reveal all during his Trend Talks on 6 & 7 July at Modefabriek – get your tickets now!
